Lakha mandal shiv temple is one of the most ancient temples of India. "A million shiv lings and 365 temples," is the saying of the place. Most of the shiv kings is said to be of treta yug and dwapar yug. This place has mythological relation to Sati, Shiv and Pandavas. This place got its name from infamous story of LakMahal (palace of wax) in the Mahabharata where Kauravs set fire to the palace and the Pandavas escaped from this place via a tunnel. A very peaceful place with a bright sunlight. The priest of this place is a great person. He will narrate all the mythology and historical story of this place. People of this place are very warm and welcoming. You can see lots of step farming of the mountains. The Yamuna river looks absolutely gorgeous in blue-green hue. The village of Lakhamandal has preserved its traditional architecture of wood, stone and mud.

Lakhamandal is a Shiva temple, situated on Mussoorie-Yamunotri road. The temple is situated in the Lakhamandal village hence named as Lakhamandal. Temple is considered as an archeological site, as it has many historical monuments. Many Shiva lingas and other monuments are placed all over the temple premises for visitors. This land has thousands of Shivalingas present underground. Lakhamandal temple has 2 main attraction. One is Shiva Linga in GrabhGruha and one on the other side, which is open under the sky. The grabhgriha shivling is there with Nandi maharaj and there are tiny footsteps of mata Parvati, of hwr childhood. It has Dhiva Parivar and many other murtis. The later one is called Chintaharan Mahadev, one who fades all your worries. The shivling is graphite and it shines when wet. We can see our and surrounding reflection on it, when it's wet. This place has an ancient story to tell about Pandavas. It is believed that Lakhamandal is the place where Duryodhan of Mahabharat tried to burn alive the Pandav. This is the same lakshyagriha house, made out of lakh. Overall the place is really historical ancient. Most recommend.

on the way to Barkot (Yamnotri Dhaam), Our driver took us here. being local, he knew this area very well. this famous temple is located in the Chakrata region. Lakhamandal is also one of the places that are mentioned in the Holy Book of the Hindus “The Mahabharata”. The deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. Remains of several temples still exist in the Lakhamandal premises in the premise, there is a Shivling made of graphite which shines on pouring water on it and it is said that, if you see your face, your sins will be gone. in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Lakhamandal is the same place where Duryodhana tried to kill the Pandavas by making them stay at a palace the 'Laksha Grah', the house made of Wax. But, the Pandavas had somehow managed to know the plan of their cousin and had escaped through a tunnel at the opening of the cave and thus the place has a lot of mythological importance.
